About Ashley in the Computer

Ashley in the Computer is a
book I wrote for my granddaughter
before she could read. It is what
Alice in Wonderland would have
been had it been written by
someone with a little less genius
than Carroll who lived in the
20th century. Sometimes you
wish you were a little more
talented so that you could do
justice to a task but you have
to make do with the tools at hand.

Some comments
recomendations
and suggestions
about
how you might read

Ashley in the computer.

Ashley gets drawn into her computer
trying to hold on to a word. The book
describes her attempt to get back home.
There are some very fun sections. The
poetry is whimsical and pointed. Chapter 8
in the park with the dog, the cat and the pig
is one of my favorites. Chapter 12 where
she tries to evolve out of the computer is
a comment on computers and evolution.
I like the sheep and the Macarena;

Who wants to take the world in hand
and turn it to their pleasure
must be prepared to smear their face
and stand their ground forever.
