VERMEERS

About Vermeers

Vermeers is a great, grand comic novel. It was my second attempt
at a novel. The first, which was started
during a sabbatical in Spain just never
made the trip back to the states. Vermeers is a grand comic novel. I
never felt I gave Nick Strayte a fair
shake. I finished the novel in the late
1990's.I have kept a revision in my
head but revising seems easier than
new writing so I am postponing it
until I tire out.

I owe Pearl Lemberg thanks. She helped make Vermeers a better book than it was.

Some comments recomendations and suggestions about how you might read Vermeers

Here's a summary of the novel; It doesn't do it justice. One of first scenes of the novel will give you a flavor of what it reads like.

When Nick Strayte goes crazy he ends up at Vermeers, a mental hospital run by a liver specialist, John Heirath, who has been duped into running the hospital. The attempt to save the hospital and its patients from the machinations of the venal psychiatrist Peter Triff and the head of the board Martin Mash makes funny reading.
